HTC Sensation — Overheating

My Sensation seems to overheat when playing games and at night after a long day. Why?

The Sensation does get hot but then it should cool down once you close the demanding app / game. HTC has a built-in failstop which will restart the phone if it's getting too hot to stop damage, so don't worry too much about it. It's just annoying. The SGS2 apparently suffers from a similar issue.
