Thanksgiving has been a tradition in the United States since at least 1607 in Virginia, and similar celebrations were held by the Spanish in Florida as early as the 1500s. The iconic image of the Pilgrims gathering with Native Americans for a feast comes from a celebration in Plymouth, Massachussetts in 1621, which is what most of us think of when we think of the first Thanksgiving.
Everyone recognizes how nice it is to get together to cook and eat a bunch of tasty food!
