Description
Smartphone Link creates a seamless navigation experience between a compatible Garmin personal navigator and an Android smartphone. It allows the devices to share information, such as saved and recently found locations, where you parked, and your current destination. It also links your compatible nüvi to Garmin Live Services, such as traffic, weather and fuel prices using your smartphone's current mobile data plan.*Smartphone Link works with select Bluetooth®-enabled 2012 Garmin devices, including nüvi 2475LT, 2495LMT, 2595LM, 2595LMT, 3490LMT and 3590LMT**. All of these nüvi models require a software update, available at www.garmin.com/myDashboard.
What Are Garmin Live Services?
Garmin Live Services provide the most up-to-date “live” information to your Garmin navigator using your existing mobile data plan. There’s no need for an additional data connection. Some services are included free when you connect to Smartphone Link. Others are available through subscriptions that offer premium content and enhanced features.
Examples of Garmin Live Services:
Local weather information - Current localized weather, temperature and forecasts.
Live Traffic** - Garmin Live Traffic provides the best-in-class real-time information to help you
navigate in and around congestion. Live Traffic is updated every 2 minutes and receives more than 1,000 messages every update cycle.
photoLive traffic cameras* - Provides drivers the ability to look up real-time photos from traffic
cameras to get a glance at traffic and weather conditions.
Fuel prices* - Helps you find the best prices for any grade of fuel in your area or on your route.
Just tap the screen and go to your chosen station.
Advanced Weather* - In addition to what the free weather service provides, Advanced Weather
also allows users to receive severe weather alerts and view animated radar images on the nüvi. Colors distinguish types of precipitation, such as rain, snow and ice, to help you avoid bad driving conditions.
Real-time safety cameras*: Alerts you to fixed and mobile safety camera data to help you arrive
safely at your destination.
Dynamic parking: Helps you locate parking areas close to your destination. It also will provide you with the number of spots available and the current cost of the parking spot.
Garmin Tracker: Allows you to track the location of your nüvi via myGarmin™. You also can send a link via Facebook®, Twitter® or email for others to track you as you travel with your nüvi.
*Contact your mobile service provider for more information about your service plan's data and
roaming rates.
**Not available in all areas. Subscription required.

Wonderful Not sure what everyone's mental deficit is, but this program synchs up via Bluetooth and runs smoothly...each and every time. Some of you shouldn't be allowed to own a smartphone because you aren't that smart. Wonderful app.

No go DroidX2 data Very frustrating experience. Sending a location link seems to work. Seems also to interfere with Bluetooth connection. Biggest disappointment is failure of weather data. Hourglass on Garmin spins interminably. Phone only (if I am lucky). Out ahead of their headlights here. Offered a refund on weather services.

Working!l! UPDATED REVIEW 6/6/12 Verizon Droid Razr, Smartphone Link (ver 1.2) and Nuvi 3590 (ver 6.3) Initially could use bluetooth phone control functions. Could send a destination to the GPS from the phone, but weather and traffic apps would not pass data. Spent a great deal of time and emails with Garmin tech support and could not get it to work. Was never able to do a factory reset on the GPS that deleted all user data. Garmin shipped me a replacement GPS that had the same firmware and hardware revs, was able to link up on the first attempt and get all data from paid subscriptions. Giving the 4 stars until I have more data and at least one trip out of range of HD traffic reception. So far, so good!

Force Closes on HTC EVO Trying this with my HTC EVO and 3590LMT. I get a connection and can see and use the phone from the Garmin but when I open the app on the phone to view settings, it force closes every time.

Great so far!! Works perfect with 2595LMT and Droid Bionic, only problem I have found is with the Bluetooth not being able to link phone and headset at the same time, I drive a semi and have to literally yell to use the voice navigation so it would help a lot to use my headset for voice commands I know its fairly new so hopefully Garmin fixes with a software update, one very nice feature is being able to take it with me without the cord and still have traffic when its connected to my phone AWESOME!!!!

Panned it at first but have warmed up. Cooled down again. I subscribed to weather ($5/yr.) & the Traffic Cameras ($10/yr.) Didn't subscribe to traffic because my 3590LMT comes with HD traffic. Gas prices are available on smart phones. App is of limited utility for me since I have a smart phone. Many attempts to connect to my subscribed services fail because "Subscription Expired or can't be found." Uninstalled. They can keep my $.

Actually useful and good value! Didn't expect much from this but since its free..... Well its actually really clever. I know get live traffic alerts and so far they've been accurate. You do have to pay extra for the live traffic but it cheaper than the subscription I use to have on my TomTom. Thinking about trying the traffic cameras but not too sure how useful that will be? Overall though a great idea. Few bugs but expect these to be ironed out, with an update

Most feature should be free I spend nearly $400 on GPS and most all the feature need paid to use it. I wish most features on the GPS should use my phone data when connect. Workingon fixing that than I might get another Garmin GPS soon. BTW, Garmin GPS might be the best out there.
