This app is not designed to work with PlayStation(R)3 or older versions of Sony devices.
- Key features
1. Simple Remote: This allows you to navigate through the graphic user interface. Simply glide your finger over the screen to move the cursor, and tap any place on the screen to enter a selected item.
2. Full Remote: This gives you the option to use almost the same buttons as you would have available on an actual remote control, enabling one touch control of most of the key functions of your Sony devices.
3. Keyboard: to help you type characters more easily, a full QWERTY touch-screen keyboard has been included.
4. Free Cursor Remote: You can move the cursor freely while the browser is displayed on the TV screen.
5. Catch & Throw: You can receive/send the URL of a website between your home device and your mobile device. You can display the website you are currently viewing on the TV on your mobile device or you can display the website you are currently viewing on your mobile device on the TV.
6. Disc History/Disc Information: This will allow you to view information on the movie you are enjoying – allowing you to find information about the cast or director, or find an image of the package. There is also a seamless link to YouTube etc. to search for content related to the movie.
7. Game Pad: You can play games or applications on Sony Internet TV using your mobile device as a controller.
- A couple of things you should know
1. "Media Remote" will only work if your mobile device and your home device are on the same wireless network.
2. Some functions may not be available, depending on the home devices you are using.
3. Some functions may not be available in some regions/countries.
4. A seamless link to YouTube etc. is subject to change or termination without notice.
5. Permission to use various functions:
・com.android.browser.permission.READ_HISTORY_BOOKMARKS
・com.android.browser.permission.WRITE_HISTORY_BOOKMARKS
These grants of permission are used by the "Catch & Throw" function.
They allow you to display your mobile device's bookmarks on the TV, and also to bookmark pages shown on the TV.

And what about the other SONY models? My BDP-S280 in not enlisted to work with this applet, even if it was designed since the beginning to pair with a USB antenna! Am I supposed to search YouTube with the std TV remote?!? To waste 5min just to type "Dream Theater"?!? The whole package is designed by SONY, how could they overlook this?

useless bloat although i love the tablet s, its so full of crappy software, that cant even be uninstalled (!!), it can sometimes get infuriating. case in point: this app. i have no use for it, but cant uninstall it. the built-in ir-remote, however, i use for all my av gear. really weird software policies going on here, dont even get me started on the "sony entertainment bloatware" that i cant even use in my region haha. also, no ps3 support is an insult...

Works well, No power on/ off but seems can't detect TV if off. So can't bump it off. Very use full so far. Would be handy if could turn on / off and find devices even when they're off.

POS Original review: Works very good on my Sony NSX-40GT1 Google Internet TV. It better than the Google TV Remote app (which is good too) because the virtual remote can power the set ON & OFF, which the Google TV Remote app cannot do. Updated 6/4/12: App can find television, but will not register it. Trying to do anything within the app only causes it to restart--cannot even access Help! Worthless now. Transformer Prime 4.0.3

Overall...very helpful. When you compare Media Remote running on my Samsung Tablet with the remote that came with the TV...there's no question this app is an improvement. Setup was a snap and it's super helpful to be able to press big buttons on my tablet rather than the little chiclet keys on the remote. Having said this, Sony needs to hire a user interface designer....the GUI is clumsy. I still can't find the ON / OFF button!...have to use the TV remote to turn things off and on. Other than that, I'm recommending this app strongly.

Does not work I have a Sony tablet S, and it can't find my KDL-52EX700, have tried everything to connect but nothing, throw function works good though, I think the app just doesn't work. Very disappointing.

Connects to s580 well. Doesn't connect to hx82 TV well..loses connection constantly. PLEASE FIX!
