Summary

Great events are often foreshadowed. Isn't that how some people put it?

OK, so maybe we're exaggerating just a bit here, but the news has been going all over town twitter-style for quite some time. It's about time to come out of the shadows and present you with our new AndroidPIT App!

You know AndroidPIT as an independent, incorruptible, and objective website. Obviously, it's pretty hard to remain objective with our own app. Nonetheless, every app needs a test report and why should our app be any exception to that rule?

Please don't judge us too harshly if you find this test report to be not entirely objective. Feel free to post critical comments and suggestions for this app so that we can make the necessary improvements.

Enough said! Here's our not-so-objective AndroidPIT App test report...

The app shares most of its features with the AndroidPIT website. You'll find an extensive amount of test reports, blogs, news, and a forum focused on everything Android.

The test reports are relatively thorough and rate apps on a 5-star scale. You can also see which particular version was tested and which the current version number for any given app is. This gives you an overview of any possible app changes or updates. At least one test report gets posted daily on AndroidPIT.

The blog and news entries are written by the AndroidPIT team as well as individually by other readers. Usually, you'll find short news pieces (or rumors), but you'll also get a comprehensive article on topics related to Google, Android, and smartphones from time to time.

The forum offers you the opportunity to share questions about Android, Android phones, or talk about other topics that pop into your mind (Soccer, Philosophy, Canada...).

Bottom Line:

Not all of the website features are built-in to the app. The search function, for example, is missing. There is, however, a reason behind it!

The app is still in its developing stages. Many additional features for Android users are planned for the future. The guys here at AndroidPIT tend to go by the philosophy that less is more. Instead of waiting for this youngling to mature into a perfect program, we would like our readers to have the chance to check it out as soon as possible.

It's going to take a couple of weeks before the AndroidPIT app gets tailored to perfection. We know that the name isn't the catchiest and that "AA" isn't the best abbreviation for an app, but we hope it becomes a part of your Android routine.

In the mean time, the app offers you everything you should really ever need. Clearly, this app deserves nothing short of a 5 star rating!

 AA's design is based on the website. Nice and slick.

The app is divided into three parts:

• Tests: On the main screen you'll find the previews and ratings of the ten latest test reports. The full test report opens up with just one click. All the information from the website, including screenshots and comments, is displayed on your screen. Downloading any app is made easy via a direct link to the Market on the test report.
• Blog; Again, everything same as on the website. All texts, pictures, and comments are displayed. As a registered user, you can also leave a comment on any of the posts.
• Forum: Same deal. You can open new threads and answer any post. Cool!

Bottom Line:

I don't know enough superlative to describe how awesome this app really is. We think it's quite simply a piece of art.

As you know we're not big fans of assigning main functions to the menu button. So we kept our word on that with our own app.

Based on all these criteria, this app receives a whopping 5 stars!
