Finally, someone is trying to drum up a bit of excitement for next weeks Mobile World Congress instead of just leaking the details of their new super Android device. While other companies are "accidentally" letting slip their big presentation, HTC isn't typing their hand. The Taiwanese smartphone giant has taken to Facebook tease the release of something fast… something very fast, indeed...
Thus, spoke HTC's ad department:
This Sunday you’ll discover something fast.
Backing up their claim is a simple silhouette of an HTC device with the number 5 prominently displayed. Intriguing, don't you think? Now the real question is what could be so special about the number 5? We've been tossing around ideas here at the office, but we haven't found any with legs yet. Could the '5' have something to do with the processor? With all the quad-core and dual-core processors on the market, that's kind of hard to imagine. A one 1.5 GHz core? That's nothing to brag about today… Could it be a smartlet with a 5" display approaching Samsung Galaxy Note's monster display? Maybe….
My personal tip would be that HTC is looking to release not one, but 5 devices. We already know that HTC is going to try a new business model, which focus on releasing quality smartphones instead of flooding the market with thousands of new devices. And 5 does seem like a reasonable number for their initial launch in 2012.
But who knows! The great thing about the Android community is that developers and hardware manufacturers always manage to surprise us with what they have cooking up. I can't wait to the doors open of MWC!
Anything ideas what HTC has in store for us? Let us know in the comments below!
