Google Maps for Android devices just got a little bit better today, with the release of Walking Navigation (Beta) , which combines walking directions with Navigation to get you where you want to be on two feet. The service utilizes walk paths (when known) to get you to your destination faster, and automatically defaults to Satellite view, and the map view rotates with your phone.

Viewsonic ViewPad 7 Hands-On

It may seem that AndroidPIT has been focusing only on the Andorid tablets at this year's IFA, but let me inform you that this show was the year of the tablet. Honestly, I'd like to cover something not tablet related, but those seem to be the only things Android device related that are being unveiled here. I now bring you the review of the Viewsonic ViewPad 7, a device which looks damningly similar to the Camangi FM600 tablet we covered earlier.

AndroidPIT was at the press conference for Huawei (say it like who-wha-way) today where Huawei's Chief Marketing Officer gave a presentation and demonstarted their newest handset, IDEOS. The handset, which we correctly reported on a few days ago, is a low-medium end device Android device which will be an extremely affordable Android 2.2 powered handset, and marketed as a very affordable handset designed to attract customers into the smartphone market.

CellPhoneSignal released new official pictures of the T-Mobile G2, which are also on T-Mobile's site, which strengthen several rumors on the G2's features.  In addition, T-Mobile announced that they have expanded their HSPA+ network to several new markets, with coverage now extending to 55 major metorpolitan areas.

Motorola released a video showing off the new features of the Motorola Milestone 2, which appears to be an exact copy of the Droid 2, including "a 1GHz OMAP SOC, 512MB of RAM, a 5 megapixel imager, and Android 2.2 as the OS (complete with Flash Player and Froyo's native hotspot ability)." However, it appears that the original video was released before Motorola intended it to be, as the removed the video shortly afterwards, only to put it back up again later.

Notebookitalia received a tip regarding an Android-powered tablet form Toshiba that is rumored to be called the Folio 100. The device, which is rumored to feature relatively high-end specs, may be revealed at IFA here in Berlin this week, along with several other tablets, including the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

The guys over at XDA-Developers have been very busy recently with the announcement of the rooting of the Motorola Droid 2 on August 25th, and the rooting of the Android 2.2 powered HTC EVO 4G yesterday, the 26th. The Droid 2 was just released a couple weeks ago, while the HTC EVO 4G with Android 2.2 has been out for about a week or so longer.

There was a false rumor about the Droid Incredible Android 2.2 update earlier this week, which was quickly pulled. Early yesterday, Droid-Life posted a leaked picture of a Verizon document pinning today (August 27th) as the beginning of the Android 2.2 update for the Incredible, but Verizon has a history of changing release dates, so I wasn't complete convinced. Luckily, Verizon confirmed the roll-out themselves.

Word has been circulating since yesterday that Droid handsets on Verizon have been receiving the Android 2.2 update (FRG22D) which enables installation of Adobe Flash 10.1 from the Android Market. I wrote on Tuesday that the Droid was rumored to be receiving the latest Android 2.2 update, and it looks like Verizon finally came through.
