I got a tablet with Android 1.6 installed and I can't download apps. I don't have a market app and my camera will only activate on rare occasions. I also cannot recognize the "market URL" provided in my android browser. I can only install if I get the http:// link to download the .apk file directly. Is there anything I can do to get more apps or upgrade my OS?

Not being able to open market links, or have the market app on your tablet is probably because google didnt approve your tablet for the market. (you also cannot open market links on a computer browser).

You could try a few other sites, like appslib.com (this one is for tablets specifically), getjar.com, slideme.org. Also try the AdroidPit App Center, app. You still wont be able to download the apps from the market, but if the developer has uploaded them to android pit, you can get them.
