We have started an open and free community project for developers, something you might be interested in. I would love to get your feedback!

The vision we have is to establish a free device database that contains really very detailed technical information about Android devices. It does not aim to compete against any of the existing end consumer alike databases, but is a service dedicated to developers. How do you know what exact sensors a device supports? What exact media formats are supported? What frames per secs rate can you as a developer rely on? ...

The project consists of two parts, a device app and a website:

Android Analyzer: This is an app that collects all sorts of detailed information about your device (no personal info, of course), creates a device capability report and sends it to the central database on AndroidFragmentation.com. You can get the app from the project site or the Android Market. The analyzer comprises a plugin architecture and thus can easily be extended to detect more device features or issues.

AndroidFragmentation.com: The site that aggregates information about the fragmentation topic and includes the open device capability database mentioned above.

We're at the beginning of this project and thus are very interested in your - the communities - feedback!
