According to a recent application security market study conducted by the Ponemon Institute, over half (51%) of development organizations, and 40% of security global security professionals feel that insecure mobile applications will seriously disrupt business operations at their organizations in the next immediate future. Additionally, when asked to rank threats and vulnerabilities over the next 24 months, the study found that 42% of security teams and 45% of developers felt that hybrid mobile/Web 2.0 applications (Web 2.0/social media apps on a mobile platform on a mobile device) rank second in its impact on application security next to general social media or Web 2.0 apps.
