Hey guys,

People who do NOT have an unlimited data plan is still a reality: I'm one of them! Here are some tips on how to prolong your data:

Turn off auto-updates for your apps in the Google Play Store.
You can choose if you want these to be automatically updated or manually, or even choose for this just to happen on Wi-Fi.
In the Google Play Store app, go to Menu --> settings --> Auto-update apps.
Decide here if apps are updated at any time, only on Wi-Fi or never at all on there own.

Change the in-app data settings
Some apps consume more data than others. You can check this in the settings of your phone under data usage.
Scroll down to see which apps are using up the most data.
Apps such as Google Pictures completes auto-backups of your pictures. You turn this on or off if you go to the app and under settings, then auto-backup.

Reduce data being consumed ''in the background''
Some apps auto-update all of the time to keep the most current status, like apps updating info based on GPS data.
Go to Settings --> then Data Usage.
Press the menu button and uncheck the boxes for restrict background data as wella s auto-sync data.

Take time to load files in advance when in a Wi-Fi network
If you know you are heading out and have little data left, you can preload data at home where you have Wi-Fi, like Google Maps for offline usage, books, etc...

Did these tricks help you? Are there any others that you know of?

I guess you forget to add keep your data connection inactive in the night there are applications available in the play store that allows switching off the data connection automatically (You need to set time in which your data connection remains inactive).
