Unable to Recover my Gmail Account

I sell my iphone few days ago, there my gmail was logged in. I resert the device before selling. Now I forget the password. I have added my phone number but by mistake the gmail address was added as recovery account. I am not able to completely verify with my number. Whenever I try to verify it sends a code to my recovery email. And obviously I don't have access.

Need suggestions.

Select "Forgot password?" and proceed.
Try to verify your identity using your phone number.
